What are the shelter cabins like?

Shelter is an English word that could be translated into Spanish as “refugio”. Shelter would be a structure that has the function of protecting from the weather. The term is also used in the sense of container, since it is responsible for housing and protecting the equipment that is collected inside it.

The usefulness of shelter cabins extends to virtually all areas of production. Depending on the use to which they are going to be put, the cabins will have a series of needs that we adapt at the time of manufacturing. In terms of sizes we move in dimensions ranging from 2000x1500x2500 (WxDxH) mm to 14000x2800x2700 (WxDxH) mm.

An example of how are the cabins that we manufacture in Delinte can be found in air quality measurement cabins, which are distributed throughout the Spanish geography and also in many points outside our country. Materials to create the shelter cabins

In order to fulfill their function, shelter cabins must be sufficiently resistant and robust to be able to withstand both weather conditions and possible acts of vandalism. We also use thermal insulators from leading manufacturers that guarantee the required specifications. We have our own manufacturing and assembly method that favors a robust construction.

Depending on the case, we use galvanized steel or stainless steel for their construction. Galvanized steel is steel that undergoes a hot-dip process with molten zinc. This generates a zinc layer on the surface that prevents oxidation. Stainless steel, on the other hand, has a manufacturing process by which, through a series of transformations, the raw materials are melted until the desired thickness and diameter of the parts are obtained. It is a corrosion-resistant material by a unique process that, in a simplified form, causes chromium oxide molecules to immediately restore any scratches to the metal.

Our cabins are insulated with rock wool. It is a mineral-type insulation that uses two raw materials: basaltic rocks, which are of volcanic origin, and coke ore, which comes from coal. The main advantage of this material is its fireproof character. In addition, it is an excellent acoustic and thermal insulator.

The shelter cabins have a painted finish and are always adapted to the environmental and seismic conditions of the areas where they are to be installed. Of course, its construction and dimensions are adjusted to the needs expressed by the customer, depending on the equipment that needs to be housed inside. Our metal transformations

One of our most demanded products are ATEX and pressurized cabinets for analyzers. We are experts in the manufacture of cabinets in galvanized sheet metal, which offers optimum resistance to corrosion, and also in stainless steel for the analysis of liquids and gases in ATEX zones.

Both TIG and MIG are acronyms. MIG stands for Metal Inert Gas, while TIG stands for Tungsten Inert Gas. Let’s take a closer look at what each of them consists of.

TIG welding

It is one of the types of welding that is becoming widespread today, especially in stainless steels, because although it is more expensive, it offers better finishes. One of its advantages is that this process is very clean, leaving hardly any residue on the base metal.

But the great advantage of TIG welding is that it allows very precise temperature control, which is ideal for penetrating thick steels and for jobs requiring a high level of precision.

The finishes obtained with this system are very strong, precise and corrosion resistant. In addition, they are homogeneous and allow a completely smooth result to be obtained. TIG welding also offers the option of using a filler metal or not.

MIG welding

MIG welding is also known as gas and metal arc welding. The arc is formed from a continuous wire electrode and the parts to be joined, and is protected from the surrounding atmosphere by an inert gas.

MIG welding offers a number of advantages among which we can highlight that it allows welding in all positions. Also perform precision welds from 0.7 to 6 mm without preparing the edges and offering very good finishes. It is a process that offers high productivity and provides good quality.

In Europe, the gas most commonly used in this type of welding is argon. In the United States, on the other hand, helium is the most widely used. When welding steel, argon must be mixed with oxygen, since quantities greater than 5% of pure argon produce bites.

Three different MIG welding processes can be distinguished. Semi-automatic is the most common. Here the welder sets parameters such as voltage and current, which are then automatically maintained by the equipment as the welder drags the gun. Then there are the automatic and robotized processes. The latter is mainly used on an industrial scale.

Explosive atmospheres are defined as those in which there is a mixture of flammable substances in the form of gases, vapors or dusts in the air. For an explosion to occur, several conditions must be met simultaneously, such as the mixture of combustible substances with the oxygen present in the air in the precise proportion that creates an explosive atmosphere and that this is in contact with a source of ignition.

Protection in ATEX atmospheres

Directive 2014/34/EU (ATEX 95), which came into force on April 20, 2016, defines the specifications for the equipment and use of electrical and non-electrical equipment in an explosive atmosphere. All equipment installed in an ATEX zone must be protected against the risk of explosion.
